What SalaryScope Does

SalaryScope is a salary intelligence platform. It answers three questions:

What does this job actually pay?
Median, P25, P75, P90 from BLS OEWS — 1.1 million employer payrolls, not LinkedIn self-reports.
Am I paid fairly?
The Fair Pay Score™ shows where your salary sits in the market distribution (0–100). Not just a median — a verdict.
What should I do next?
Career GPS™ recommends next career moves with expected salary gain, skill overlap, and average transition time from O*NET data.

Why we don't use self-reported surveys

Self-reported salary databases (Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, LinkedIn Salary) have well-documented biases:

  • Survivor bias — people report salaries when they're proud of them (too high)
  • Recency bias — tech bull market salaries persist long after corrections
  • Location gaps — sparse data outside major US tech hubs
  • Occupation drift — "Software Engineer" covers everything from $60k to $600k

BLS OEWS surveys 1.1 million employer establishments, weighted by industry and geography. OECD surveys national statistical agencies. These are the same sources that governments, central banks, and researchers use.
